About - About Us Bearden Theatre is a collaborative artistic environment that pushes students out of their comfort zones, off of their screens, and onto the stage. The program builds strong leaders and helps to instill important life skills that students can take into a variety of careers - not just the arts. Teachers, actors, and technicians collaborate to create full length productions. Students grow in their creative problem solving, communication skills, team building, relationship building, financial budgeting, respect for deadlines, adaptability, self-discipline, independence, and self confidence as well as a variety of real world applications of art, engineering, history, math, science and reading skills. https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/57f6857dd482e9bd09450324/1662052308600-WGZU4SWMGPE6NDY90UVN/6B098090-2945-44F6-9680-817FA734D15B_1_201_a.jpeg About - Musical Theatre & Advanced Acting Musical Theatre (Fall only) & Advanced Theatre Performance (Spring only) classes require an audition and students must re-audition to regain their spot the following year. Both of these advanced performing classes produce a full-length play or musical. Theatre Arts I or Vocal Music I is a prerequisite. Auditions are in Feb / March the year before. https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/57f6857dd482e9bd09450324/8e168577-7daf-4b8b-b32d-34e167eb8899/legalblonde.png About - Stage Tech Stage Technology offers technical support for a production and is offered both semesters. This course requires an interview for admission and students serve on a crew which runs either the musical (Fall) or play (Spring). Students can serve on crews focused on set building, prop building and scenic painting, costume design, marketing and business crews. Stage Management teams are selected from crew members. Interviews are in Feb / March the year before. https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/57f6857dd482e9bd09450324/1673979406221-OOODSM3H30IXRCT5J3BC/IMG_7906.jpg About - Theatre Arts I & II Theatre Arts I is open to all grades and is a survey/intro class with an emphasis in acting. Students write and produce an original skit night which is called “Annual Skits” in the Fall, and “Headliners” in the Spring. Theatre Arts I is the prerequisite for Musical Theatre, Advanced Theatre Production and Theatre Arts II. Theatre II focuses on scene study and students take a larger role in the overall production of the skit night and work together to perform a one-act production at the end of the semester. https://www.beardentheatre.com/stagetech-91 daily 0.75 2024-09-28 https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/57f6857dd482e9bd09450324/8a4d2f22-0d63-4b01-a0d4-d2a6e79fbcbb/Lindy+Port.png Stage Tech - Costumes The magic of transformation begins with our costume crew! They are the artists who turn actors into their characters with every stitch and button. Whether it’s designing period pieces or sewing modern ensembles, the costume team ensures that each outfit enhances the story being told, all while staying practical for quick changes and high-energy performances. (Lindy McCool in costume by Abigail Cade) https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/57f6857dd482e9bd09450324/0e9bb123-4861-4524-a52e-18949d9fbdd4/15.png Stage Tech - Set The set crew takes the blank canvas of the stage and turns it into an immersive world. From painting backdrops to constructing platforms, they bring the director’s vision to life, creating spaces that transport the audience. Every scene change is a new challenge for this team of builders, painters, and designers, and they love turning wood and paint into theatrical magic. From rehearsals to curtain calls, stage managers keep everything running smoothly, coordinating actors, tech crews, and directors. They ensure that each performance is seamless, keeping track of cues, changes, and schedules. It’s like being the conductor of a symphony where every note matters! (Allyson Lundberg, Stage Management) https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/57f6857dd482e9bd09450324/6fac0e9e-6d26-4822-92f0-e58326457c7f/19.png Stage Tech - Props Every small detail you see on stage, from an actor’s coffee cup to a magic wand, comes from the creative hands of the props team. They make sure each item tells part of the story, working behind the scenes to find or build the perfect objects that bring the world of the play to life. They are also our art team, painting sets, props, and bringing color to the worlds we create. Their job requires imagination and sometimes a little scavenger hunting! (Janus Gooden, Props) https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/57f6857dd482e9bd09450324/7b519e51-aa66-47e6-abb6-62308fe87980/3.png Stage Tech - Business Behind the scenes, the business team makes sure the show goes on—both onstage and financially! They handle everything from ticket sales to marketing, keeping our productions running smoothly. This team runs all social media campaigns, fundraising, and they are also our graphics department, designing our posters and promotional materials. This crew helps promote the shows, organize fundraisers, and keep the theatre program thriving. Their work ensures the lights stay bright and the seats are full!
